Hi! My name is Irma Patton and I am a 2nd Grade Bilingual teacher at J.L.Lyon Elementary. Let me tell you a little about myself......

I grew up in the small West Texas town of Fort Stockton. I graduated from Fort Stockton High School in 1981.

After that, I received my Associate's Degree from South Plains College in Levelland,Texas. While at SPC, I played college tennis for two years on an athletic scholarship.

I transferred to Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas and received my Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Physical Education.

A few years later I decided to obtain my Master's of Liberal Arts Degree in Bilingual/ESL Education from Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas, Texas.

This year I will begin my 31st year as an educator!

I have taught 20 years in our great state of Texas and 11 years in the state of New Mexico.

I have taught 2nd grade, 3rd grade and 4th grade.

I have also taught elementary Physical Education for  grades Kindergarten-6th grades.

I've also enjoyed coaching tennis at the high school level for both men and women.

My husband and I have been happily married for 28 years and we have two grown daughters. Both of our girls are in college now so we are "empty nesters".

On my spare time I like to play tennis, ride bikes with my husband, camp, go to the movies or a concert, or watch sports either live or on television.

This year is going to be AWESOME!
