Principal
I am honored to serve as the Principal of J.L. Lyon Elementary! This year marks my 20th year in education, with the last 10 years spent serving students, families, and staff in Magnolia ISD.
I am a proud graduate of the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, and I am passionate about creating a positive school culture where students feel known, supported, challenged, and inspired to learn and grow.
Magnolia is more than just the place where I work—it is home. My family and I live in the Magnolia community, and both of my children attend Magnolia ISD schools. Being able to serve the same community where my own children learn is something I value deeply. I am incredibly proud to be part of the Magnolia ISD family and especially proud to serve the students, families, and staff of J.L. Lyon Elementary.
Assistant Principals
Andrea Harper-Assistant Principal and Campus Behavior Coordinator
My name is Andrea Harper. I have had the privilege of serving Magnolia ISD students and families since 2015. In 2021, I moved to Lyon Elementary.
I received my undergraduate degree in Business Management at Georgia Tech and, later, earned my Master’s degree in Elementary Education from The University of Houston.
After gaining experience teaching primary, intermediate, and junior high students, I continued my own educational journey and completed my Principal Certification at Houston Baptist University.
I am here to serve the Lyon community, so please contact me if I can be of assistance in any way.
Jeremy Hubbard, Assistant Principal
I am very excited to be joining the Lyon family this year!
After graduating from Indiana University, I came to Texas and began my career as a special education teacher. I became a team leader and then a department chair. After completing my Master's in Educational Leadership, I was an assistant principal for many years. I have worked in Magnolia ISD for seven years. I was an assistant principal at Bear Branch Junior High for three of those years. Most recently, I served as a coordinator in Special Services and as the administrator for the ABLE program at Bear Branch Elementary before serving as Assistant Principal at Lyon.
My wife, Michelle, is a wonderful Reading teacher. We have two teenage children.
Academic Coordinator
My name is Mandy Epperson. I started my educational career in 2010 as a classroom teacher. I have had the privilege of serving Magnolia ISD students and families since 2021.
I received my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education at Texas A&M - Corpus Christi and, later, earned my Master’s degree in School Leadership from Sam Houston State University.
It is rewarding to see my own 2 children attend Magnolia ISD schools while also serving the Lyon community as the Academic Coordinator. I look forward to helping all our students meet their full potential.
Counselor
My name is Jennifer Barrett. I have been serving families in Magnolia ISD at Lyon Elementary since 1998. I love working with children and my goal is to help all students be their best selves.
As a school counselor I address academic achievement, career planning, and personal/social development through:
- small group counseling
- individual counseling
- classroom/large group guidance
- student observations
- collaborating with parents, guardians, and teachers
- respond to school and emergency crisis
- provide referral resources to organizations and agencies in the community
